New Take on '7 Deadly Sins'

Dance Review

The Bowie State Dance Ensemble performed its own recreation of the "7 Deadly Sins---College Edition" during a show Nov. 22 in the Movement Studio in the Fine and Performing Arts Center.

The performance took the audience through a journey of the top sins in college, including dances titled "Insecurity," "Gluttony," "Gossip," "Wrath," "Depression," "Abuse," and "Lust." The team of five dancers performed choreographed dances to numbers such as “Pour It Up” by Rihanna and “Don't Judge Me” by Chris Brown. They even recreated the famous "Cell Block Tango" from the Broadway play "Chicago."

The student dancers represented several academic majors, including criminology, education, and business along with one performing arts major. Dance Prof. Jennifer Dorsey led the ensemble.

The audience was filled with supporters from family members and friends who all contributed to the production. Based on their outstanding performances, it appeared that the young women were passionate about conveying their message to other college students: don't give in to temptation.
