Vision
To advance student learning and the student experience by supporting and empowering faculty and staff to make evidence-based assessment decisions to transform academic and non-academic endeavors that support the pillars of BSU's Strategic Plan (pdf).
Mission
Our mission is to assist chairs, deans, faculty, staff, and administrators as they develop assessment plans at the institutional level, college level, departmental level, and the academic program level. The Center for Academic Programs Assessment (CAPA) provides assistance to faculty and staff, academic departments and programs, campus committees, and other campus groups in planning, implementing and using assessment of student learning outcomes to improve educational quality.
Goals
Phase I (AY 2012-2021)
- Goal 1: Create and maintain a culture of assessment on campus
- Goal 2: Support specialized and regional accreditations
Overview
Academic outcomes assessment is based on a process in which faculty and staff identify the most appropriate learning objectives for specific programs (i.e., general education, undergraduate, and graduate programs). It employs a wide variety of methods and measurements to identify as accurately as possible whether the departments and the institution are achieving the described objectives in these areas.
