Declaration/Change of Program
The Declaration/Change of Program form (pdf) should be used for the following groups of currently enrolled students:
- Undergraduate degree-seeking students declaring, changing or deleting a major, minor and/or certificate program.
- Non-degree seeking undergraduate students interested in obtaining an Upper Division Certificate
- Graduate degree-seeking students adding, changing or deleting a certificate program
- Graduate students changing their program modality or choosing a new concentration. A change in concentration will require a new and approved Program of Study (POS).
When completing the form, please make sure that the required signatures are obtained. Once completed the form should be submitted to registrar@bowiestate.edu. Once processed email, confirmation will be sent to the student and the approving chairperson.
Undergraduate students that are currently Undecided should meet with an Academic Advisor through the Academic Advising Center. They will serve as the primary academic advisor until students have declared a major. Undergraduate students must declare their plan before the end of their sophomore year or at 59 credits.
Important Notes for Undergraduate Students
- Students will be required to meet graduation requirements under the catalog in effect at the time that the request is processed. However, students may request to follow the requirements of a later catalog through written request to the department chairperson. If approved, the written consent and approval must be forwarded to the Registrar’s Office so that the catalog year can be adjusted in the system.
- If a newly declared/changed plan did not exist at the time of a student’s admission, studies will be governed by the academic catalog in effect at the time of the new major declaration. If a student interrupts their studies and is later readmitted, they must follow the requirements of the academic catalog in effect at the time of readmission.
- The EFFECTIVE DATE for the declaration/change requested will be the date of receipt at the Office of the Registrar.
- This completed form will update the information listed on the student transcript for future terms and the degree audit (for undergraduate students).
